In the north, the Emperor has died, leaving the dogs to squabble and fight over the remains of his kingdom. His sister, Lady Marei, has set up a matriarchy in the east. In the west, the Crouching Tiger is growing bolder by the day. In the south, the old kings of Dheynor still weave their plots and make castles in the air. Nothing is going as it should. And it does not end there. There are bad tidings from outside, too. Ihave heard the sailors talk about how the traders of Enden are starting to crave our land. You’re not from Enden, are you? Good, good. And I hear the Prince in Chreina is starting to make his move too. These are distubed times, young traveler. You still wish to stay? Well, you’re braver than me, I’ll give you that. Ante Diluvium – Scientific advancement, particularly genetics, has skyrocketed. There are many new breeds of species as a result of hybridization and transgenics. Genetic code is a toy. Some people live in Compounds. Compounds are created and run by scientific corporations. Everything outside the Compounds is Pleebland. The Earth itself has long been laid to waste, but small Pleeb cities still survive. Some citizens are fine with how things are, but not everyone is happy about it. Some reject it peacefully, while others are organizing more aggressive rebellion.

Delta Weyr Fandom – PbP – Delta Weyr is the youngest of Pern’s Weyrs. It was founded on the Southern continent at the end of the Fourth Pass, near lands rich in farmland and ore. The Weyr first grew slowly, steadily, enjoying the Threadless Interval, but then the expected end came and went, with no sign of their ancient enemy despite the presence of the Red Star. The Fifth Pass is late, and those who doubt grow more numerous. Most riders remain convinced that Thread will return. Meantime, the Weyrleadership is faltering, clinging to power they do not deserve, causing the Weyr to be unprepared.

Believing themselves rid of their ancient enemy once and for all, the people of Pern turned a blind eye to the empty Weyrs, to the slow decline of their once-saviors, the dragonriders. So Lessa took matters into her own hands and made a jump between to the start of the Eighth Interval, but something went wrong. Lessa’s delirium never broke, she faded and died, and the riders of the Eighth Interval made a decision: they would make the jump to the Ninth Pass regardless of the dangers.
